I love Elizabeth Zimmerman's method for increasing, or making, stitches (M1). But I always get mixed up about the orientation of the right needle. Should I be poking it through the knitting (under the yarn between the two stitches on my left and right needles) from the front or from the back of the knitting?
I came up with a rhyme and have never had the problem again!
I left the front but I'll be right back.
A left-leaning M1 requires the needle to be inserted from the front.
A right-leaning M1 requires the needle to be inserted from the back.
